MAAP SESSION

EarthCARE MAAP hands-on session

After the retirement of the OADS data access system on 31 March 2026, the EarthCARE MAAP (Multi-mission Algorithm and Analysis Platform) will be the only ESA platform for EarthCARE dissemination. Now that all EarthCARE data products have been publicly released and are available on MAAP, users are invited to benefit maximally from the data access and analysis facility within the MAAP collaborative environment Product Algorithm Laboratory (PAL).

With the EarthCARE MAAP hands-on session, the organizing committee would like to stimulate the wider use of MAAP within the EarthCARE user community. The MAAP hands-on session will be held during the poster session(s). The size and the number of MAAP sessions will depend on the demand, site capacity, and the workshop programme.

Two types of activities are foreseen during each session:

1. MAAP tutorial

MAAP tutorial is meant to help users get better familiarised with MAAP: to guide new users/beginners through MAAP and to expose intermediate users to the full potential of MAAP.

The tutorial is

  • Open for all registered workshop participants (on-site and online)
  • An ocassion for participants to follow MAAP exercises prepared in Jupyter notebooks, with direct support from the MAAP team
Participants are expected to

  • have registered via workshop registration portal (by 8 May for on-site participants).
  • bring and use their own laptop.
  • have access to the MAAP-PAL.
For new users who do not yet have access to MAAP-PAL, the access request procedure can be found here. Please indicate 'MAAP tutorial at the Oxford Workshop' in the “Objectives and description of the request”.

2. MAAP helpdesk

MAAP helpdesk is open to all workshop participants; priority is given to on-site attendees.

The helpdesk is set up in the form of a walk-in session and is intended to help address any questions or queries about MAAP from the workshop participants.

The MAAP helpdesk is a rare opportunity for an in-person, direct consultation with MAAP team members. Those who encountered issues when using MAAP(-PAL) in their research, and those with ideas/possibilities for further MAAP(-PAL) expansion and improvements, are especially encouraged to visit the helpdesk.
